In-school counselling services – Secondary schools

secondary schoolThe transition into Secondary school signals a period of change for all young people. The vast majority cope well but for some this is a time when they struggle most.

Changes in their community, relationships, friends, peer-group and the onset of puberty can be daunting. Senior school pupils then face more change as they become young adults.

Our in-school counselling services are aimed at supporting that transition.

Helping young people manage transitions

At The Spark we recognise that supporting young people to navigate these transitions is critical to their emotional health and wellbeing. Successfully managing these periods of change helps young people make the transition into adulthood with confidence.

Raising Attainment and the Curriculum for Excellence

The work of The Spark’s Children and Young People Team (CYP) with young people from S1 to S6 contributes to multiple Scottish Government policy outcomes. Our services are mapped to the Curriculum for Excellence Health & Wellbeing Experiences & Outcomes and SHANARRI indicators.

The Spark’s CYP programmes focus on Raising Attainment and we, like you, are committed to ensuring that collectively we Get It Right for Every Child and all children and young people are supported to achieve their potential.

Programme participants are encouraged to develop self-awareness, to explore their beliefs and opinions about a variety of topics from a relationship perspective, and to learn from their own and others experiences
