Our teenage years can be some of the most enjoyable but can also be some of the most challenging periods of our journey into adulthood. When the help of family and friends is not quite enough, youth counselling can be a beneficial support.
Youth counselling offers teenagers a safe place in which to explore the complex emotions that come with moving into adulthood. With a clearer understanding of issues like relationships, sexuality, stress or anxiety, young people can be better prepared to take on challenges now and well into adulthood.
In this section, you can find out more about The Spark’s online youth counselling services for young people aged 12 and over. Including what to expect, how much youth counselling costs and how to access our online counselling services.

What is youth counselling?
Youth counselling is about providing teenagers with an opportunity to discuss any issues they are struggling with. Working with a skilled and impartial youth counsellor, they are able to address problems at home, with friends, in their local community, education or employment.
The Spark’s youth counselling services are focused on offering a non-judgemental, safe and confidential space. Our youth counsellors are highly skilled and experienced in dealing with concerns around relationships, sexuality, body image or anxiety.
Ultimately, helping them to better understand their thoughts, feelings and emotions, and find ways to cope with the ups and downs of adulthood.
What to expect from youth counselling?
Youth counselling – like any form of therapy – is a unique experience for each client. The complexity of the issues someone is facing and how they are feeling when they start counselling play a significant part in the process.
This means some young people will only need to work with a counsellor for a short time, others for a more extended duration. You can, however, expect a youth counselling service delivered to the highest ethical and professional standards.
Conversations with counsellors are strictly confidential unless we are worried about your safety or the safety of someone else. The Spark’s youth counsellors are highly experienced, professionally accredited and many possess advanced qualifications in youth counselling.
The Spark accepts referrals from parents, schools, GPs and social workers.
